Verifying identity
Identity verification keeps your Sonect account secure and compliant. Find out why it’s required, how to complete it, and which countries and age groups are supported.
Why do I need to verify my identity?
With an unverified account, you can use the Sonect app up to a limit of CHF/EUR 200 per month. To increase this limit to CHF/EUR 10,000 per month, we are legally required to verify your identity and collect standard information such as your source of funds, beneficial ownership, and PEP (Politically Exposed Person) status. This verification process helps prevent money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes in line with international compliance standards.
How do I verify my account?
You will be prompted to verify your identity once you approach your monthly transaction limit. Alternatively, you can start the process at any time by following these steps:
- Tap the profile icon (top left corner)
- Go to “Personal information”
- Select “Verify identity”
The app will guide you through the process, including:
- Scanning a valid ID document
- Answering questions about your PEP status, source of funds, and ownership of funds
The verification typically takes up to 48 hours. To avoid delays once you hit your limit, we recommend verifying your identity in advance.
